Who doesn’t want to roll out of bed looking amazing? While for most of us that thought it more a dream than a reality, we can definitely pretend we woke up glamorous with the Pajama Top Trend. Although it’s been a trend on the rise for several years now (seriously, I first wore it in this post), it’s been ever so popular withing the last few years especially, being worn by the likes of Gigi Hadid, Selena Gomez, and even Ryan Gosling. Whether you’re wearing a full on pajama set or mixing and matching pieces, read on for some tips to make sure you look chic and not sloppy!
Tips for Wearing Pajama Tops
1. Pick the Right Pajama Top
When picking a Pajama Top for this trend, I tend to steer towards more luxurious fabrics like silk or satin because they are comfy, feel amazing against the skin, and look glamorous and chic due to the fabric’s slight sheen. You can definitely choose whatever fabric feels and works best for you, but silk and satin have been my go-to’s for their luxurious look and feel.
It’s also important to pay attention to details–fun prints, piping, embellishments, embroidery, etc all make an outfit feel more elevated and chic. While I’m a huge sucker for embroidery, I tend to go a little more simple with this trend and usually opt for a solid colored shirt with contrasting piping (similar to what I’m wearing in the photos).
When I’m picking a Pajama Top for an outfit, I personally prefer tops that drape well so I can tuck them in without feeling or looking bulky and messy. This is another reason why I prefer silks and satin over plain cotton!
2. Keep Your Bottoms Simple
Whether you pair your Pajama Top with jeans, shorts, or a skirt, it’s best to keep your bottoms simple and let your Pajama Top be the star of the show. Dark skinny jeans are definitely my current go-to when wearing this trend, but going into Spring, I’ll definitely be pairing my Pajama Tops with tailored shorts and light wash jeans too! Just make sure you think clean and sleek when picking out your bottoms to keep your outfit looking chic and put together!
While I’ve never been one to wear TONS of accessories, I’ve come to the conclusion that carefully selected and worn accessories can not only add a little sparkle, but tie a whole outfit together! As of late, I’ve been more into gold accessories than ever before and feel that they add a luxurious vibe to the look. I would definitely keep the accessories to a minimum though–maybe a watch, some gold layered necklaces, or some statement earrings ( I think some tassel earrings would be SO CUTE and so Audrey Hepburn!).
4. Shoes Shoes Shoes
While my first thought was MULES when I first put on this outfit, it was a little too lounge wear and not enough glam. I switched them out for some black studded ankle boots, which when paired with my black jeans, contributed to an ultra leg lengthening look *cue heart eyes*!!!! Other shoes that I would pair this outfit with would be some killer pumps or heeled sandals, but I would personally stay away from flats as I feel like they would be too casual and the whole point of this look is to appear glamorous, yet effortless.
